Energy is the causal glue

in my book, nerve endings of the soul, i cited Dr. Dembski who stated that information is dynamic, passing in, through and out of matter, which itself can be reduced to information that is instantiated within it. he stated that “anything that exhibits information needed at some point to be imparted with information. what causes information to undergo such dynamic transformations? . . . energy.” energy is always inferred from information, according to dembski. energy is the “causal glue” that connects items of information in an informational universe.

I asked in my book if it is reasonable that a transmission of information would have no material basis? dembski stated that material energy is a form of energy “but not . . . coextensive with the whole of energy.” so what would nonmaterial energy look like? when information is transmitted an information relationship exists between two ends of a communication channel. dembski pointed out that despite the absence of an intervening physical process as medium, information relationships can still hold. are there information transfers that transcend material media through a nonmaterial form of energy? dembski cited nde as an example of information transfers induced by nonmaterial energy. in selected cases reports of experiences of patients having nde have been verified and could not have been guessed. such experiences confirm that information can transfer from event, item or scene to a patient while unconscious and clinically dead and in a location that on materialistic grounds would have been impossible for the patient to access the information.

it is my hypothesis, recorded in my books, that encoded nonmaterial wave forms constitute that energy transmitted from the instantiated information of the observed scene, item or event to the immaterial, disembodied mind of an individual experiencing a nde, a mind that can interpret the encoded wave forms transmitted to the mind from that which is perceived during the episode. i refer the reader to my more recent blog posts in which this topic is addressed. in my next blog they shall be posted.

Information and the mind-body relationship

dr. michael egnor interviewed dr. william dembski about the role of information in the mind-body relationship (https://www.discovery.org/podcast/william-dembski-on-information-and-the-mind-body-relationship/). dembski expained that “information is a verb [which has action], representing the narrowing of possibilities and the constraining of contingency.” Information relates to meaning and communication and “is the most fundamental aspect of reality.” he argued that “information is more real than matter and that even material entities disclose themselves informationally.” dembski argued further “that if information is considered fundamental rather than matter, it dissolves the mind-body problem.” he stated further “the idea of information as a fundamental concept in the natural world, analogous to energy." (https://www.discovery.org/podcast/william-dembski-on-information-and-the-mind-body-relationship/)

in my book, nerve endings of the soul: interaction between the mind of god and the mind of man through neural synaptic networks, i discussed the transmission of information by a proposed nonmaterial energy. i commented on the codification of transmitted information and the relationship between information and energy. I proposed that wave forms represent an immaterial energy that transmits encoded information to a recipient mind having meaning, purpose and structure that is interpreted by the immaterial mind. in my next blog post i shall address the relationship between information and energy and how it could explain the recall of scenes and items seen by one who has a nde.

Near death experiences, information and the mind

I have been priviledged to review podcasts from the discovery institute featuring dr. michael egnor and dr. william dembski dealing with the mind-body problem. dr. egnor accepts causal dualist interaction between the immaterial mind and the material body/brain, but he has understandable difficulty understanding how the mind can remember specific items and scenes seen during the nde after consciousness is regained. i have shared what i believe is compelling evidence for a form of cartesian dualist interaction between the mind of god and man and the synaptic networks of the brain, but i have not addressed the mind’s cognitive function during a nde. dr. egnor’s skepticism concerning this process is justified, causing him to have some doubt about the validity of certain elements of cartesian dualism.

in the following blog posts i shall elaborate on this question, drawing from what i have presented in my books and blogs. i will share a proposal that is an extension of my hypothesis for dual interaction presented in my books and in a number of my more recent blog posts. the proposal suggests a role for wave forms in this process, and information plays a fundamental role.

Peace and Hope

I am posting romans 5:1-5 to follow my last blog posts from dr. pinkham’s book since these verses give support and validation to the points made by him and his coauthor:

therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with god through our lord jesus christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. and we boast in the hope of the glory of god. not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance, character, and character, hope. and hope does not put us to shame, because god’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the holy spirit, who has been given to us.

it is our blessing by god’s grace through the sin sacrifice of jesus christ to become at one with the triune god in our spirit, soul and bodies and at one with his bride, the church, in love.

A state of being

dr. pinkham shares a discussion of the staTE OF BEING, A DISCUSSION WHICH WILL CONCLUDE MY POSTING OF EXCERPTS FROM HIS BOOK AS BLOG POSTS:

“ONENESS WITH THE FATHER IN CHRIST BY THE HOLY SPIRIT IS A STATE OF BEING. IN OTHER WORDS, WE ARE LOVED, VALUED, AND AFFIRMED THROUGH AN INTIMATE CONNECTION WITH THEM, NOT AS A RESULT OF WHAT WE DO OR FAIL TO DO. . . . RECEIVING CHRIST IS THEREFORE THE ACT OF ENJOINING THE RELATIONAL ONENESS OF THE TRINITY. THE IDEA OF ‘MUTUAL INDWELLING’ DESCRIBES AN ONTOLOGICAL RELATIONSHIP. IT IS MUTUAL IN THAT THERE IS A BACK-AND-FORTH RELATIONSHIP [A BIDIRECTIONAL INTERACTION]. IT IS ONTOLOGICAL BECAUSE IT INVOLVES INDWELLING - THAT IS, FINDING A PLACE IN EACH OTHER’S INTERNALITY. IF CHRIST INDWELLS ME, THEN MY ONTOLOGY [STATE OF BEING] IS DEFINED BY HIM. . . . THE ACT OF RECEPTION IS DONE IN THE HEART (EPH 3:17; 2 COR 3:3; HWV 8), WHICH IS NOT A STATIC SUBSTANCE, BUT RATHER THE CENTER OF THE HUMAN BEING’S FACULTIES OF AFFECT (EMOTION) AND INTENTION (WILL). FURTHER, THIS ACT IS AIDED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT (JOHN 15:26; ROM 5/5, 8:9; 1 COR 6:11; 2 COR 3:3), WHO FACILITATES THE ONTOLOGICAL RECEPTION OF CHRIST. THIS, THEREFORE, ANSWERS THE HOW QUESTION. WE RECEIVE CHRIST IN AN ONTOLOGICAL MANNER BY ALLOWING HIM TO LIVE IN OUR HEARTS [OUR SOULS, CONSISTING OF MIND, WILL AND EMOTION], BY THE HELP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.”

BY READING MY BOOKS AND SELECTED BLOGS YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THAT MY OVER 25 YEARS OF RESEARCH HAS ADDRESSED THIS HOW QUESTION. iT IS A DUALIST INTERACTION BETWEEN THE MIND OF GOD AND THE MIND OF MAN THROUGH THE NEURAL SYNAPTIC NETWORKS OF THE BRAIN. IT IS A CAUSAL INTERACTION BETWEEN THAT WHICH IS IMMATERIAL AND THAT WHICH IS MATERIAL. LINGUISTIC, SPECIFIED INFORMATION IS TRANSMITTED THEREBY, GIVING A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE FATHER AND THE SON THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT.

The communion of the Spirit

As i wind down the excerpts from dr. pinkham’s outstanding book i am posting the following which gives testimony to how god reveals himself to us:

“we can only know god as he reveals himself to us. he has decided to do so through the heart of the son, the communion of the spirit [Italics added], and the body of christ. knowing the depths of god occurs when we have communion with the [indwelling] holy spirit. grace enables us to share those depths. thus, we can mutually indwell the son, the incarnate word. and we can know the father and be known by him.”

Stan Lennard
The basis of spirituality

“…communion or community with the father, through the son, and by the holy spirit is the basis of spirituality - being in relationship that is spirit-formed.”

Stan Lennard
Personal relationship with the Trinity

Dr. pinkham continues:

“the kind of relationships enjoyed between father, son, and spirit are now available to us! this is the good news! salvation is not limited to the forgiveness of sin. rather, salvation paves the way for a much deeper and more personal relationship with the members of the trinity, and with one another. . . . believers take on the nature of the trinitarian relationship. this is interpersonal oneness expressed in the divine family. we receive the enabling to engage in this kind of relating due to the miraculous work of christ [who sent the holy spirit as he promised to be our helper and counselor]. however, we are also able to reflect such interpersonal oneness as image-bearers of god.”

i continue to post excerpts from dr. pinkhams’s book as blogs to show in compelling manner the reality of dual interaction between the indwelling holy spirit and the human spirit enabled by the neural synaptic networks created by god to give us a personal, intimate communion with jesus and the father. we are increasing our understanding of this wonderful process through neural science.

Mutual indwelling and Christian doctrine

pinkham speaks to the mutual indwelling that is the model for christian doctrine:

“in john 5:19-27 and 16:13-14, we see that the relationships between the trinity are self-emptying and self-giving. the father gives his authority AND POWER TO JESUS. YET JESUS GIVES IT ALL BACK BY REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING APART FROM THE FATHER. FURTHER, THE HOLY SPIRIT [INDWELLING THE HUMAN SPIRIT AND SOUL IN OUR TIME] SPEAKS ON BEHALF OF JESUS, AND GIVES GLORY TO JESUS IN THE PROCESS. THE MODEL HERE IS THAT OF INTERDEPENDENCE, UNEQUIVOCAL TRUST, MUTUAL INDWELLING, AND LOVING UNITY. THIS MUST BE THE MODEL FOLLOWED IN CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE, AS WELL AS IN THE STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION OF THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH.”

Stan Lennard
Doctrine of the Trinity

pinkham shares:

“certainly, christians should be careful not to neglect any aspect of the faith. while the doctrine of the trinity may be difficult to explain, it is certainly not irrelevant, nor an unnecessary complication. rather, it is a glorious, mysterious, and majestic understanding of god. without it, christianity loses the power of the relationship between father and son, as well as the personal nature of the divine indwelling of the holy spirit within believers.”
